A new kind of beer called Kozak Lager is being brewed in New Brunswick to help support Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the front lines. Oleg Kvasha from the Ukrainian Club of Moncton has partnered with Moncton’s O’Creek Brewing Company to create this unique beer, named after the brave Ukrainian soldiers from centuries ago known as the Kozaks. Kvasha aims to provide support to both Ukrainians who have fled to Canada and those still fighting in Ukraine. Part of the proceeds from the sale of the beer will be used to purchase supplies like medical kits and protection armor for soldiers on the front lines.

The Kozak Lager is a pale lager made with Ukrainian hops, giving it an authentic taste that honors Ukrainian heritage. Patrice Daigle, owner of the microbrewery, expressed gratitude for being able to support the soldiers and Ukrainians in both Canada and Ukraine. Many Ukrainians in Canada still have family back in Ukraine, so this initiative is a small gesture to help those in need. Kvasha, who has family in Ukraine, shared stories of people living in fear and facing constant threats, highlighting the importance of providing support in any way possible.

The collaboration between Kvasha and Daigle is not just limited to brewing beer – they hope to inspire other microbrewers across Canada to join the cause. By sharing the recipe and the concept of the Kozak Lager with other local breweries, they aim to maximize the support and funds that can be raised to aid Ukrainian soldiers and refugees. Kvasha believes that the more brewers that become involved, the greater impact they can have in providing assistance to those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. The hope is to create a network of breweries across Canada united in supporting this cause.

The Kozak Lager project is a testament to the solidarity and support shown by the Canadian community towards Ukrainian soldiers and refugees. By utilizing the platform of microbreweries, Kvasha and Daigle have found a creative way to raise funds and awareness for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The beer not only serves as a symbol of tribute to the brave soldiers of the past but also as a tangible means of support for those currently facing hardships in Ukraine. Through this initiative, they seek to make a meaningful contribution to the relief efforts and provide assistance to those in need.

Overall, the Kozak Lager initiative represents a unique and innovative approach to supporting Ukrainian soldiers and refugees. By harnessing the power of the brewing community, Kvasha and Daigle have created a platform for Canadians to come together and make a difference in the lives of those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. The project not only highlights the resilience and bravery of the Ukrainian soldiers but also showcases the compassion and generosity of the Canadian people. Through this collaborative effort, they hope to make a positive impact and provide much-needed support to those facing adversity in Ukraine.
