Meghan Markle recently praised her husband, Prince Harry, as the true athlete in the family while attending the Giants of Africa basketball exhibition in Lagos, Nigeria. The event marked the unveiling of a partnership between the Archwell Foundation and Giants of Africa, a charity focused on empowering youth through sports like basketball. Meghan, who lived in Toronto for seven years and had previously attended Raptors games, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support the organization and its mission.

During her speech at the event, Meghan commended the work being done by Giants of Africa and expressed her excitement to see the athletes in action. She also humorously acknowledged that her husband is the more athletic one in their relationship. Following Meghan’s speech, Prince Harry joined in on the basketball drills and even managed to score a basket, proving his athleticism. Their visit to Nigeria was part of their first official tour in the country, where they engaged in various activities, including attending a school in Abuja and participating in a panel discussion about women in leadership.

The visit to Nigeria coincided with the 10th-anniversary celebration of the Invictus Games, a sporting event co-founded by Prince Harry to honor wounded military veterans. The couple also attended a volleyball game hosted by Nigeria: Unconquered, a charity affiliated with the Invictus Games. Meghan shared that Prince Harry loves playing volleyball and is quite skilled at the sport, based on her conversation with 9-year-old Tiwa Akanbi. The overall purpose of their visit to Nigeria was to support and celebrate initiatives that use sports to empower individuals, particularly youth and wounded veterans.

The partnership between the Archwell Foundation and Giants of Africa aims to expand opportunities for youth in Nigeria to engage in sports and develop valuable life skills. With Meghan and Harry’s support, the organization can further its impact and reach more individuals in need. Their visit to Nigeria not only highlighted the importance of using sports as a tool for empowerment but also showcased the couple’s dedication to philanthropy and community engagement. By participating in various activities and events during their tour, Meghan and Harry demonstrated their commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
