Director George Miller is bringing back the Mad Max universe with the upcoming release of “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” a prequel to the 2015 hit film “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Starring Anya Taylor-Joy as a younger version of Furiosa and Chris Hemsworth as her chief nemesis, Dementus, the film was released in theaters in May, marking a new chapter in the iconic franchise. The movie is set to be available for digital streaming on platforms like Prime Video, VUDU, and AppleTV+.

“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” follows the story of Furiosa as a child, played by Alyla Browne, who is kidnapped from her homeland, the Green Place of Many Mothers, by the warlord Dementus and his Biker Horde. As she grows into adulthood, Furiosa embarks on a mission to find her way back home, setting the stage for an epic showdown between her and her nemesis. The film promises to delve deeper into the beloved character’s backstory and expand the Mad Max universe.

Despite its highly anticipated release, “Furiosa” had an underwhelming debut in theaters, earning $32 million at the domestic box office over the Memorial Day weekend. However, it has garnered positive reviews from both audiences and critics, with a 90% “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 377 reviews. The film’s production budget was reportedly $168 million before prints and advertising, and it has earned a total of $160.6 million worldwide, with $63.6 million domestically and $97 million internationally.

Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment has announced that “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” will be available for premium video on demand starting on June 25. The movie will also be released on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 13, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy the action-packed film from the comfort of their own homes. Viewers will have the option to either purchase the movie for $29.99 in ultra HD or rent it for $24.99 for 48 hours once they start watching.

Directed by George Miller, who also helmed “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth in the lead roles, alongside a talented ensemble cast. The film promises to continue the legacy of the Mad Max series, which began in 1979 with Mel Gibson in the title role and has since captivated audiences with its dystopian world and adrenaline-fueled action sequences. With the release of “Furiosa,” fans can look forward to a new chapter in the saga of Mad Max and his allies.
