Matty Healy’s aunt, Debbie Dedes, recently defended him against speculation that Taylor Swift’s songs from her new album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” were based on their past relationship. Dedes stated that both Healy and Swift know the real story behind their romance, dismissing the idea that Swift’s songs are completely accurate.

According to Dedes, Healy is currently happy with his girlfriend, model Gabbriette Bechtel. Swift’s songs, particularly “The Smallest Man,” allude to their relationship, with references to Healy’s signature black suit and his height among other things. The couple dated briefly in May-June 2023, but faced criticism due to Healy’s past controversial comments.

Swift’s new album also contains references to Healy’s struggles with substance abuse and his love of typewriters, as seen in the title track, “The Tortured Poets Department.” Despite the speculation and possible references to their relationship in Swift’s songs, Healy and his girlfriend seem to have moved on from their past romance.

Healy and Bechtel were first linked in September 2023 and have been spotted engaging in PDA around New York City. They addressed engagement rumors in November, confirming that they were not planning to get engaged. On the other hand, Swift has moved on with NFL star Travis Kelce, with rumors of engagement between them as well.

Their relationship was described as challenging due to their busy schedules but the couple was not compatible with each other. Healy’s height, style, and struggles with substance abuse are alluded to in Swift’s songs, sparking speculation among fans about the real inspiration behind the lyrics. Despite the attention on their past relationship, Healy and Bechtel seem to be focused on their current relationship.
