Manhattan West, developed by Brookfield for $5 billion, is an eight-acre complex in Manhattan that is home to a variety of restaurants, including Italian, Middle Eastern, Spanish, and Japanese establishments. P.J. Clarke’s Oyster Bar & Grille will soon be added to the mix, signing a lease for 7,500 square feet at 424 W. 34th St. It is the only century-old property at the Manhattan West site and will be the fourth location in Manhattan for owner Phil Scotti, with others already in Third Avenue, Lincoln Square, and Brookfield Place.

Despite challenges posed by the pandemic and the office market crash, Manhattan West has seen success in leasing its office towers, the Pendry Hotel, the Eugene rental apartment tower, and public plazas. One Manhattan West tower is 99% leased, while Two Manhattan West is 84% leased, and Five Manhattan West is fully leased. Tenants in the complex include Skadden, Amazon, JPMorgan Chase, and the NHL, among others, showcasing the popularity and success of the development.

Manhattan West’s success stands out compared to other major commercial complexes in Manhattan. The planned western half of Hudson Yards remains undeveloped, while the World Trade Center is still not at its full capacity. Manhattan West, however, has flourished, with various businesses occupying its spaces, including stores like Whole Foods and Peloton and restaurants like Ci Siamo, ZouZou, and Casa Dani. The addition of P.J. Clarke’s will further enhance the dining options available in the complex.

The P.J. Clarke’s location at Manhattan West will offer more than just traditional American favorites like hamburgers, focusing on dishes made with local fish and shellfish. The restaurant will provide a unique dining experience for visitors and tenants of the complex, adding to the culinary diversity already present in the area. Its central location between Ninth and Tenth Avenues makes it a convenient spot for those looking for a meal in the heart of Manhattan.

With the addition of P.J. Clarke’s, Manhattan West continues to solidify its reputation as a dynamic and vibrant destination in Manhattan. The successful development of the complex, despite challenges faced during the pandemic, showcases the resilience and attractiveness of the area to businesses and tenants alike. The mix of offices, hotels, apartments, and retail spaces within Manhattan West creates a vibrant community that attracts a range of businesses and visitors, contributing to the overall success of the development. As Manhattan West continues to thrive, it remains a prime location for those looking to live, work, and dine in a bustling and diverse urban environment.
