Omar Lucio, a 34-year-old man from Texas, was charged with murder after the body of 27-year-old Corinna Johnson was found dead, wrapped in bedding and stuffed in his closet. The Garland Police Department received a 911 call from a woman reporting that another woman had been beaten to death and was inside Lucio’s apartment. When officers arrived, Lucio initially refused to exit but was eventually arrested after about an hour. Johnson’s body was discovered in the closet, leading to Lucio’s arrest.

A trail of blood was found from the front door to the bathroom and then into the bedroom closet where Johnson’s body was located. Lucio’s vehicle in the parking lot contained bloody clothes, further implicating him in the crime. A woman who had been called to Lucio’s apartment for help reported seeing Johnson’s body with a bruised and bloody face in the bathroom. She later called the police after witnessing the scene. Lucio admitted to investigators that he had “snapped” and beaten Johnson with his bare hands in the car, leading to her death.

Family members of Johnson had been urging her to leave Lucio, as they observed her coming home with black eyes and bruises following their six-year relationship. Johnson’s sister described her as a “bubbly person,” while her aunt noted that she always had a smile on her face. The family expressed that Johnson did not deserve what happened to her and were concerned about the signs of abuse they had seen. Lucio remains in custody at the Dallas County Jail on charges of murder, street racing, and being involved in a collision causing bodily injury.

The investigation revealed that Lucio did not provide an explanation for how Johnson ended up in the closet wrapped in his bedding. Detectives noted injuries on Lucio’s hands and blood under his fingernails and on his shoe. Johnson’s family continues to mourn the loss of a loved one, emphasizing that she did not deserve the fate that befell her. Lucio’s admission of beating Johnson and the evidence found in his vehicle point to his involvement in her death.

The tragic case highlights the dangers of domestic violence and the need for victims to seek help and receive support from loved ones. Johnson’s family’s concerns about her safety and well-being serve as a reminder of the importance of recognizing signs of abuse and taking action to protect those at risk. Lucio’s arrest and subsequent charges shed light on the serious consequences of violent behavior within intimate relationships, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice in cases of murder and assault.

As the legal proceedings continue, Johnson’s family and friends continue to mourn her loss and remember her as a vibrant and loving individual. The community is left to grapple with the devastating impact of domestic violence and the need for preventative measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals. Lucio’s case serves as a sobering reminder of the need for vigilance and support for those experiencing abusive relationships, as well as the importance of swift and decisive action in response to acts of violence and harm.
