The Los Angeles District Attorney has stated that they are aware of a video circulating online allegedly depicting Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie in 2016. The D.A.’s office found the images disturbing but mentioned that they would be unable to charge Combs due to the statute of limitations for assault having passed. They also encouraged anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or seek support from the Bureau of Victims Services.

CNN released a video of Diddy allegedly physically assaulting Cassie in a hotel in 2016, grabbing her by the neck and shoving, dragging, and kicking her. Cassie’s attorney Douglas H. Wigdor expressed that the video further confirms Diddy’s disturbing behavior and praised his client for coming forward. Diddy has not publicly addressed the video, and the Los Angeles Police Department has stated that they are aware of the footage.

Diddy and Cassie dated on and off between 2007 and 2018. In November 2023, Cassie sued Diddy for sexual assault and physical abuse over a 10-year period. The exes settled the case the next day, with Diddy denying all allegations. The legal action prompted other individuals to come forward with similar accusations against Diddy, which he has also denied. Diddy’s homes in L.A. and Miami were raided by Homeland Security in March as part of a federal sex trafficking investigation, although Diddy has not been charged or arrested in connection to a crime.

Diddy’s attorney criticized the use of military-level force during the raid on his client’s homes, expressing concern over the treatment of Diddy’s children and employees. The attorney stated that there was no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility from authorities during the search. For individuals who have been sexually assaulted, the National Sexual Assault Hotline is available at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) for support and assistance.
