Lizzo, a former vegan, recently shared what she eats in a day and credited animal protein with helping her lose weight on her journey to a healthier lifestyle. The singer revealed her daily food and beverage intake in an Instagram video, starting her day with lemon water, egg white cups, cauliflower hashbrowns, and fruit. Throughout the day, she enjoyed okra water, buffalo chicken lettuce wrap with lots of mustard, and homemade peach tea. Lizzo ended her day with grilled chicken, carrots, and asparagus.

In the video, Lizzo explained that she reintroduced meat into her diet while in Japan after being impressed with the clean and delicious food there. She shared that after tests and research, she found that animal proteins helped her have more energy, lose weight, and improve mental clarity. Despite the success she has had with including meat in her diet, Lizzo still believes that the vegan diet is the healthiest option and hopes to one day become a raw alkaline vegan.

Lizzo clarified that the raw alkaline diet is a plant-based diet focused on creating an alkaline environment in the body with an internal pH level of eight or higher. However, the Cleveland Clinic warns that the alkaline diet lacks scientific evidence of health benefits and that the body naturally regulates pH levels. Lizzo wanted to be honest with her fans about her dietary choices while acknowledging that the topic can be sensitive. She encouraged her followers to do what is best for them, emphasizing the importance of happiness above all.

The singer did not specify which trip to Japan influenced her decision to include animal protein in her diet, but she visited the country in August 2023. During her time in Japan, she shared videos of her travels after facing a lawsuit from former backup dancers, which she denied. Lizzo announced that she was taking a gap year to focus on her mental well-being while also working on her weight loss and fitness goals through weight training and calorie deficit.

Despite experiencing setbacks like overeating, Lizzo remained positive in her journey towards a healthier lifestyle. In a TikTok video, she admitted to feeling bad about overeating but reminded herself that her body needed nourishment and comfort. Ultimately, Lizzo prioritized her mental and physical health, encouraging others to do what makes them happy at any given moment. She spotlighted the importance of self-care and self-compassion in achieving overall well-being.
