Rep. Tim Burchett, Republican from Tennessee, is leading an effort to promote transparency around UFO-related information within the U.S. government. He plans to introduce a new bill, called “The UAP Transparency Act,” that would require President Biden to direct federal departments to declassify all documents related to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), also known as UFOs. The bill aims to address the inconsistencies in government statements regarding UFOs and the significant amount of government spending on the issue, despite claims that UFOs do not exist.

Burchett’s bill has bipartisan support, with co-sponsors including Rep. Anna Paulina Luna and Jared Moskowitz. The bill would not only mandate the declassification of UFO-related files but would also require the President to provide quarterly reports updating Congress on progress towards releasing the information. Burchett emphasizes that the goal of the bill is to promote transparency and hold the government accountable for the funds being spent on studying UFO phenomena.

Republican lawmakers, including Burchett, have expressed frustration with the lack of transparency and stonewalling by federal agencies when it comes to UFO-related information. Despite government denials of the existence of UFOs, significant resources are being allocated to researching the phenomena. Burchett and others argue that it is essential for the public to have access to this information, especially given the ongoing spending and interest in the topic.

Recent reports indicate that a program within the Intelligence Community was expanded to protect UAP reverse-engineering without sufficient justification but was ultimately disbanded due to lack of merit. This suggests that there have been efforts within the government to investigate UFO-related technology and phenomena, raising questions about the scope of these investigations and the information being withheld from the public. Burchett’s bill aims to shed light on these issues and provide the public with access to classified UFO-related information.

Burchett highlights the need for greater transparency and accountability within federal agencies regarding UFO information. He criticizes the compartmentalization of information and the lack of public discussion on the topic, even in highly classified briefings. Burchett believes that until there is a commander-in-chief willing to address the issue head-on, it will be challenging to uncover the truth behind UFO-related activities within the government. The UAP Transparency Act is a step towards promoting openness and honesty regarding UFO-related information.

The bill proposed by Burchett and his colleagues seeks to ensure that the U.S. government releases all UFO-related documents to the public within 270 days of its passage. By requiring federal agencies to declassify information and provide regular updates to Congress, the bill aims to address concerns about government secrecy and spending on UFO-related activities. Burchett’s efforts reflect a growing bipartisan interest in UFO transparency and accountability within the government, prompting discussions about the significance of UFO phenomena and the need for greater public access to information.
