The Spanish National Police have arrested the leader of the MC Comanches biker gang in Spain in Benalmádena (Málaga), wanted for his alleged involvement in a murder attempt in Romania. The fugitive had been classified as a high value target by Europol, after presumably inheriting the leadership of a criminal drug trafficking organization on the Costa del Sol following the previous leader’s arrest in Marbella at the end of 2023. During the arrest, a handgun, 32 cartridges, a machete, an ax, and fake documentation were found in the suspect’s residence. This arrest was part of an operation opened in 2023 to investigate the MC Comanches gang’s leaders, who were believed to be part of a drug trafficking network transporting narcotics from Spain to central and northern Europe in vans.

The investigation led to the arrest of the group’s then-leader at the end of last year, who was wanted by German authorities under a European Arrest Warrant for direct links to drug trafficking. This leader was arrested in Marbella and handed over to Berlin’s justice system. Before leaving Spain, he allegedly passed control of his illegal businesses to another individual who had previously led another biker gang, Hells Angels. This second person became the subject of a police investigation as well, as they were also the target of a European Arrest Warrant issued by Romanian authorities for attempted murder in that country. Europol had identified this person as a high-value target due to these allegations.

The subsequent investigations revealed that this individual was living on the Costa del Sol, specifically in Benalmádena, where he not only resided but also coordinated drug transport to Europe. The arrest operation involved collaboration with German and Romanian authorities, as well as members of the Special Security Operational Groups (GOES) specialized in apprehending potentially dangerous criminals. After the suspect’s arrest, his residence and a recently established vehicle rental company’s headquarters were searched, leading to the discovery of weapons, cell phones, computers, and fake documentation. In addition to the attempted murder charge in Romania, the suspect is also accused of illegal weapons possession and falsifying documents.

The Costa del Sol is often frequented by biker gang members involved in drug trafficking and other crimes, leading to multiple police operations each year to dismantle these organizations. In November of the previous year, a member of the Danish Bandidos biker gang was arrested for his role in supervising and financing hashish purchases smuggled into Denmark via roadways. Another biker from the Satudarah gang was apprehended in Mijas in March after fleeing Denmark, where he was sentenced for stabbing three individuals in a nightclub. These incidents highlight the ongoing presence of criminal biker gangs in the region and the law enforcement efforts to combat their activities.
