America First Legal has filed a lawsuit against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office seeking records of any communication related to the prosecution of former President Trump between prosecutors and various groups including the Biden-Harris campaign, the Democratic National Convention, Color of Change, and CREW. They are also seeking documents related to efforts to raise money off the prosecution of Trump in New York v. Trump, as well as any communication between Bragg’s office and Judge Juan Merchan’s daughter, who runs a Democrat-affiliated political consulting firm. The group believes there may be coordination between Washington, D.C., and New York City behind the scenes.

AFL Vice President Dan Epstein stated that it is important for Bragg’s office to meet its transparency responsibilities, especially in light of contradictions between statements from the U.S. Department of Justice and Bragg’s office regarding coordination between the two. AFL describes Color of Change as a far-left, Soros-funded group that has visited the White House and met with President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The lawsuit is part of AFL’s ongoing investigation into Bragg’s office over concerns of impartiality, politically motivated prosecution, and the weaponization of the justice system. The organization sued Merchan last week for refusing to turn over his financial disclosures amid questions about his daughter’s work at Authentic Campaigns.

The CEO of Authentic Campaigns responded to the subpoena, calling the allegations against the company “completely false and purely politically motivated.” Judges in New York are required to file annual financial disclosures, which are supposed to be made available upon request. Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree after a six-week trial stemming from Bragg’s investigation, despite pleading not guilty. His legal team has moved to appeal the verdict, and Merchan has granted a request to delay sentencing until after the presidential election, scheduled for November 26.

The lawsuit filed by America First Legal is seeking transparency and accountability from Bragg’s office regarding the prosecution of former President Trump, particularly in relation to potential coordination with political groups and campaigns. The organization believes that there may have been behind-the-scenes communication between Bragg’s office and various organizations, including Color of Change, a Soros-funded group that has met with high-level government officials. The lawsuit is part of a broader investigation into concerns of impartiality, politically motivated prosecution, and misuse of the justice system.

The ongoing legal battle between America First Legal and Bragg’s office also includes concerns about the financial disclosures of Judge Merchan, particularly in relation to his daughter’s involvement with a Democrat-affiliated political consulting firm. The CEO of the firm has denied the allegations against them, stating that they are politically motivated. Despite being found guilty of falsifying business records, Trump’s legal team has appealed the verdict, and sentencing has been delayed until after the presidential election. The lawsuit highlights the complexities and controversies surrounding the prosecution of a former president and the potential influence of political considerations on the legal process.
