Eddi Moreno Jr. of Las Vegas has been charged with open murder with a deadly weapon after allegedly shooting his neighbor, Joe Moreno, while his wife was on a 911 call. The incident occurred when Eddi, his wife, and their family returned home from their daughter’s soccer game to find Joe near their property. Joe’s girlfriend had locked him out after an argument, leading to a confrontation between Joe and Eddi that ultimately led to the shooting. Eddi’s wife claimed that Joe had exposed himself and made lewd gestures, prompting the confrontation.

During the 911 call, Eddi’s wife described Joe’s behavior and the events that led up to the shooting. She reported that Joe was exposing himself in front of their children and that he had been threatening Eddi. The 911 call captured several gunshots, with Eddi’s wife telling the dispatcher that her husband had shot Joe and urging them to come quickly. The incident was also captured on a neighbor’s doorbell camera, with Eddi heard yelling that he was going to murder Joe.

First responders found Joe bleeding in his driveway and he later died in the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds. The Clark County Coroner’s office ruled his death a homicide. Despite Eddi’s claims that Joe had been threatening him and had exposed himself, police disputed these claims in their report. Eddi was found to have warned Joe that he would shoot if he came towards him, but claimed that Joe continued to approach while reaching into his pants, leading to the shooting.

Eddi appeared before a judge where bail was set at $100,000. The judge ordered him not to interact with Joe’s girlfriend and prohibited him from having firearms on his property. Eddi complied with the judge’s orders and is currently out of jail, with his next court date scheduled for August 13. The incident has raised questions about the events leading up to the shooting and the circumstances surrounding Joe’s death. The case will continue to be investigated as Eddi faces the charge of open murder with a deadly weapon.
