Lori Vallow Daybell, a member of a doomsday cult, denied being responsible for the deaths of her two children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow, in a recent prison phone call with her oldest son, Colby Ryan. She is currently serving a life sentence in the Maricopa County Jail in Arizona for their murders, as well as the murder of her fourth husband’s former wife, Tammy Daybell. Vallow Daybell’s husband, Chad Daybell, was sentenced to death in June for his role in the same crimes. She is also awaiting trial on conspiracy to commit murder charges in relation to two other individuals.

Colby Ryan, who had previously testified against his mother during her murder trial, released an episode of his podcast, The Scar Wars, featuring a phone call with his mother. This was the first time they had spoken in four years. During the call, Colby Ryan questioned his mother about the murders and their religious beliefs. Prosecutors claimed that Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell conspired to kill the children and his first wife, creating an apocalyptic belief system where evil spirits can possess people and turn them into “zombies.” Vallow Daybell denied killing her kids and suggested that Tylee was responsible for JJ’s death.

Vallow Daybell told Colby Ryan that she believed Tylee may have accidentally killed JJ in an attempt to get back at her, and that she found the children’s bodies gone when she returned to the scene. She claimed that their spirits were already in heaven and she had no knowledge of what happened to their bodies after she left. Vallow Daybell also mentioned that Tylee and JJ had visited her in a dream, apologizing for their behavior and relieving her of guilt for their deaths. Upon the sudden end of the phone call due to poor service, Colby Ryan expressed his disbelief and sadness over his mother’s delusional beliefs and her attempt to blame Tylee for JJ’s death.

Colby Ryan defended his sister Tylee, stating that she would never harm JJ and that his mother’s attempt to blame her was unfair. He struggled with accepting his mother’s delusional beliefs and the pain of knowing that Tylee was being wrongly accused. The conversation shed light on the complicated dynamics within the Vallow Daybell family and the tragic consequences of their involvement in a doomsday cult. Colby Ryan’s emotional response to the phone call reflected the deep impact that the family’s actions had on him and the lasting trauma caused by the loss of his siblings.
