Kelly Rowland has gone on a journey to embrace her athletic physique, despite past criticisms. She believes women should be confident in their bodies and not be ashamed. Rowland prefers to focus on how exercise makes her feel rather than fixating on her weight. She sees working out as “me time” and a form of self-care. Rowland also shifted her health priorities after losing her mother to cardiac arrest in 2014, vowing to take better care of her body through healthy eating and exercise.

The singer is motivated by music to work out and doesn’t count calories, opting instead to eat clean and listen to her body. Rowland also avoids eating meals late at night as heavy foods can disrupt her sleep. Dancing is one of her favorite workouts, which she equates to performing on stage. Rowland was very active during her first pregnancy and credits her commitment to exercise for an easier delivery. She also had to address diastasis recti after giving birth, which led her to focus on strengthening her core.

During her second pregnancy, Rowland had to adjust her workout routine after spending the first few months in bed. She eased back into exercise with yoga, walking, and strengthening exercises to prevent abdominal separation. Rowland likes to switch up her workouts to keep her body guessing, incorporating various activities like weights, dancing, and cardio. She also discovered a love for Pilates after trying the workout and now includes it in her routine.

Despite her healthy lifestyle, Rowland still enjoys her favorite foods in moderation. Being a Southern girl at heart, she indulges in queso with chips and the combination of waffle fries and ice cream. She believes in the 80/20 diet rule, where 80% of the time she eats nourishing foods and 20% of the time she enjoys treats like margaritas and guacamole. Rowland’s wellness routine is centered around taking care of herself mentally and physically, prioritizing her health for both herself and her children.
