Kelly Rizzo reflected on the advice her late husband, comedian Bob Saget, gave her during their marriage before his passing in 2022. She emphasized the importance of open and honest communication in a relationship, as keeping things inside can cause more harm than good. Rizzo credited Saget for teaching her this valuable lesson, which she has carried forward into her current relationship with actor Breckin Meyer, whom she began dating two years after Saget’s death.

Rizzo shared her aspirations for Saget’s legacy, hoping he is remembered as a selfless friend, father, and husband who always aimed to bring joy and laughter to those around him. She highlighted Saget’s desire to make people laugh, especially during challenging times such as the pandemic, while also cherishing his relationships with family and friends. Despite his comedic persona, Rizzo revealed that Saget also experienced moments of darkness and pain, having gone through significant losses in his life that affected him deeply.

One of the losses Saget faced was the death of his sister Gay from Scleroderma, an autoimmune disease, in 1994. Rizzo shared that while Saget was known for his humor and boundless energy, he also carried the weight of the world and experienced moments of sorrow and heaviness behind the scenes. She emphasized that the common perception of comedians always being happy and carefree is not always accurate, as many turn to comedy as a coping mechanism for their own struggles and hardships.

Rizzo and Saget met in 2015, got engaged in 2017, and married the following year in a special and intimate ceremony. She cherished their wedding day as a beautiful moment filled with happiness and love, especially seeing Saget’s joy at finding love again later in life. As the anniversary of Saget’s death approached, Rizzo acknowledged that her grief process evolves each year, with some years being more challenging than others. She shared that spending time with Saget’s daughters and reminiscing about him helps keep his memory alive.

Rizzo expressed gratitude for the support of Saget’s “Full House” family, which includes actors like John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, and Dave Coulier. While she may not speak to them every day, Rizzo felt comforted knowing they were always there for her and ready to offer their support whenever needed. The bond she shares with Saget’s colleagues has helped her navigate the difficult moments and continue to honor the legacy of the beloved actor and comedian who left a lasting impact on those around him.
