Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, who famously starred as Bill and Ted in the 1989 film “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” are set to reunite on Broadway in fall 2025. They will star in a revival of Samuel Beckett’s “Waiting for Godot,” with Reeves playing Estragon and Winter playing Vladimir. The production will be directed by Jamie Lloyd and will mark Reeves’ Broadway debut. The show will open at a theater to be announced, with both Reeves and Winter expressing excitement about working together again on stage in one of their favorite plays.

The play “Waiting for Godot” features two characters waiting for a figure that never arrives while contemplating the meaning of life. Originally premiered in 1953, it is considered one of the greatest plays of all time and has had a significant impact on pop culture with numerous references in various media. In addition to the Broadway production next fall, the play will also return to London in September with a different cast starring Lucian Msamati and Ben Whishaw.

Reeves and Winter’s iconic pairing in “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” led to a classic film franchise, including the sequels “Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey” and “Bill and Ted Face The Music.” In the original film, they play teenage buddies Bill and Ted who are on a time-traveling adventure to learn about historical events in order to pass their history class. Reeves and Winter have remained popular for their roles in the beloved franchise, with “Bill and Ted Face The Music” released in 2020.

Reeves’ most recent project was the action film “John Wick: Chapter Four,” and he is set to star in the Aziz Ansari-directed film “Good Fortune” opposite Seth Rogen. Winter, who is also an actor, director, and writer, recently completed production on the film “Adulthood” alongside Josh Gad and Kaya Scodelario. The two actors have continued to have successful careers in the entertainment industry since their breakout roles in the “Bill and Ted” franchise.

The upcoming Broadway production of “Waiting for Godot” will bring together Reeves, Winter, and Lloyd for a unique and exciting collaboration on a classic play. With Reeves making his first foray onto the Broadway stage, audiences can look forward to seeing the iconic duo bring their chemistry from the big screen to the theater. The play’s themes of waiting and contemplating life’s meaning combined with the talents of these seasoned actors are sure to create a memorable and thought-provoking theatrical experience for audiences both in New York and London.
