Kathryn Hahn is excited to reprise her role as Agatha Harkness in the upcoming Marvel television series “Agatha All Along.” Hahn describes her character as rich and complex, with layers that make her more than just a simple bad witch. The new series picks up after the events of “WandaVision,” as Agatha forms a makeshift coven to regain her powers. Hahn has felt empowered by the role and sees parallels between the symbols of transformation in the female life cycle and her own life.

The series “Agatha All Along” is filled with references to Neopaganism, Wiccan culture, and other witchy motifs. One significant allusion in the show is to “The Wizard of Oz,” with creator Jac Schaeffer mentioning that the quest structure was inspired by movies from her childhood. The series also alludes to Fleetwood Mac, Kate Winslet in “Mare of Easttown,” and “Big Little Lies.” The cast, led by Hahn, sings a catchy tune penned by Emmy-winning songwriting duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, similar to the viral sensation “Agatha All Along” song from “WandaVision.”

Despite initial nerves about singing in front of Broadway legend Patti LuPone, the cast of “Agatha All Along” bonded closely during filming in Atlanta. The ensemble cast, which includes LuPone, Aubrey Plaza, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, and Debra Jo Rupp, developed a strong connection both on and off screen. Hahn describes the experience as a dream, with everyone stepping up and sharing stories during breaks on set.

As the premiere of “Agatha All Along” approaches, Schaeffer is hopeful that audiences will enjoy the ride the series takes them on. Drawing from the success of “WandaVision,” she believes that while not everyone may be satisfied, the majority of viewers are looking for an exciting and engaging experience. With eagle-eyed fans already dissecting trailers and theorizing about the plot, Schaeffer is confident in the show’s ability to captivate its audience and provide a satisfying viewing experience.
