Kanye West has recently purchased a $35 million home in Beverly Hills, causing some controversy among his new neighbors. While West has not confirmed any plans to bring his DROAM city concept to Los Angeles, some residents are strongly against the idea. The homeowners association in the area is complicated, making it unlikely that West would be able to reenvision the community according to his liking. Additionally, the limited available land would require a significant investment to transform existing properties into a self-sustaining city.

West’s neighbors referenced his failed gutting and makeover of his Malibu mansion as evidence that he may not be equipped to handle such an ambitious project. Concerns were raised about the potential for unwanted fans and disturbances in the area due to West’s global celebrity status. The rapper’s new Beverly Hills home boasts 11 bedrooms, 18 bathrooms, a resort-style pool, a tennis court, and other luxurious amenities. This purchase came shortly after West’s Malibu property was sold for $21 million, following a significant price drop resulting from West removing all the windows and electricity in an attempt to create a bomb shelter-like space.

In addition to rumors of a potential move to Tokyo, West has been contemplating his DROAM city project in the Middle East which involves developing a 100,000-acre futuristic city. West is currently seeking partners for planning and development. Although West was previously listed as a billionaire by Forbes in 2020, his net worth has since declined to around $400 million due to severed partnerships with Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga following controversial statements made by the artist. The termination of his partnership with Adidas had a significant impact on West’s financial status, as the brand accounted for a large portion of his wealth.

Despite his declining net worth, Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, have been enjoying the luxuries of their new home in Beverly Hills and their travels to Tokyo, Japan. However, some of West’s new neighbors have expressed strong opposition to his DROAM city concept, with one describing the idea as ‘delusional.’ It remains uncertain whether West will proceed with his plans to bring his self-sustaining city to Los Angeles or any other location. Given the challenges and complexities associated with such a project, it may be difficult for West to overcome the resistance from his neighbors and the limitations of the existing land in the area.
