Jill Martin, a lifestyle contributor for “Today,” recently filed for divorce from her husband of two years, financier Erik Brooks. They filed for divorce in August and are close to finalizing the process. Martin made a statement through a spokesperson, acknowledging the divorce but indicating that she plans for this to be her only acknowledgment publicly due to the involvement of families and the challenging past year she has had.

Martin and Brooks initially met on a dating app but have had a tumultuous relationship. They got engaged in 2019 but broke off the engagement after a year due to the challenges of living in separate cities during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, they rekindled their relationship after spending 18 months apart, leading to a second engagement and eventually a wedding with 200 guests at the New York Public Library. Unfortunately, Martin was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly before their first wedding anniversary and has since undergone treatment, including a double mastectomy and chemotherapy.

Despite the divorce, Martin is focusing on her health and intends to be a supportive daughter, friend, and new aunt. She has completed her planned surgeries and will be taking medication for several years. Martin will be co-hosting the third hour of “Today” on Thursday and returning on Friday, where she will make a big announcement for Breast Cancer Awareness month on October 1. Her spokesperson mentioned that Martin is excited about new beginnings, including the launch of a new company later in the month.

Throughout her treatment and recovery from breast cancer, Martin has received an outpouring of support and messages of strength from her friends, family, and fans. She is grateful for the support and wants to ensure that other families do not have to go through the same challenges that hers did. As she moves forward with her life post-divorce and post-cancer treatment, Martin is focused on creating a positive future for herself and those around her. She is determined to bring awareness to breast cancer and support others who may be going through similar challenges.
