House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer of Kentucky indicated that Republicans believe they have uncovered enough evidence to prove crimes committed by the Biden family. Comer accused President Joe Biden of being directly involved in transactions to sell the Biden brand, without offering specific details on what laws were violated. He emphasized the need for accountability and insisted that Biden should testify before the Oversight Committee to address these allegations.
Three Biden associates – Devon Archer, Tony Bobulinski, and Jason Galanis – testified during the impeachment inquiry and claimed that Biden played a key role in enriching his family through corrupt schemes. The Oversight Committee spokesperson stated that evidence has shown Biden’s involvement in these activities and that a comprehensive report addressing criminal violations will be issued at the end of the investigation. The White House has not responded to these allegations made by Comer.
President Biden and his allies have denied the accusations made by Comer and have rejected claims that Biden engaged in influence-peddling. Comer had previously invited Biden to testify before the committee, but the White House declined the offer. Comer alleged that the White House is focused on discrediting the investigation rather than addressing the allegations. He claimed that foreign sources have contributed over $24 million to President Biden and his family without any legitimate explanation for the payments.
Comer criticized Biden for not addressing the allegations and suggested that the president cannot use his age or memory loss as an excuse. He accused the Biden family of committing crimes and emphasized Biden’s central role in these activities, as stated by the three associates who testified. Comer has consistently claimed that the Biden family has been involved in influence-peddling schemes abroad, leading him to publicly state that he would vote to impeach Biden and has criticized his fellow House Republicans for not supporting impeachment.
The White House has refuted Comer’s allegations and dismissed the impeachment probe as collapsing, highlighting that numerous witnesses have testified that President Biden did nothing wrong. The spokesperson for oversight and investigations at the White House, Ian Sams, labeled Comer’s actions as a “sad stunt” and reiterated that the evidence provided does not support the claims made against Biden. Comer also brought attention to letters sent to the Justice Department and IRS concerning whistleblower protection in response to allegations of retaliation against IRS whistleblowers who raised concerns about the federal investigation of Hunter Biden.
Comer emphasized the importance of protecting whistleblowers and preventing retaliation by the federal government, pointing to evidence suggesting that the administration has retaliated against IRS whistleblowers. He expressed the need to ensure that these individuals are safeguarded and that their complaints are taken seriously.
