An incident occurred in Bağlıca neighborhood of Etimesgut District on Sunday. According to the allegations, a woman attacked another woman who was sitting in the garden and looking in her direction, saying, “Why are you looking at me?”
F.G, who spoke about the incident, stated the following:
“The aggressor woman was constantly harassing us. She was using swear words. She was insulting my children. There were many incidents. She was attacking me. While I was sitting in the garden with my neighbor, she yelled at me saying ‘You cannot look at me with infidel eyes’. She attacked me, tried to rip my headscarf, hit me. The neighbors tried to stop her but couldn’t. She injured my finger, scratched my face. A few days after the incident, the husband of the aggressor woman, along with another man, attacked my husband. They knocked him down and hit him. When I tried to intervene, they tried to uncover my headscarf. Before that, they had attacked a veiled building caretaker, saying ‘You will bring my Sharia here’. They insulted me by saying, ‘You don’t talk to men, you don’t show your face. I will put you on TikTok’. We filed a complaint against them. I am afraid to enter my house. There is no limit to what they are capable of. We want the woman and man to be punished.”
A investigation has been launched.
According to a statement from the Ankara Governorship, “The issue and responsible parties related to the verbal, physical assault and humiliation of spiritual values between neighbors in Bağlıca neighborhood of Etimesgut district, as also reflected on social media, have been referred to judicial authorities and the necessary investigation is being carried out by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. It is hereby announced to the public.”
