Approximately 20 million students and nearly 1.2 million teachers have started the 2024-2025 academic year in Turkey. In order to ensure the safety and security of schools in districts such as Ataşehir, Pendik, Ümraniye, Kadıköy, Bağcılar, Esenler, Esenyurt, Fatih, Kağıthane, and Şişli, police teams have set up checkpoints.

The Mobile School Team, Child Branch, Security Branch, Narcotics Branch, and Traffic Branch stopped passing school buses, cars, and motorcycles to check the drivers’ documents. The teams also conducted General Information Collection (GBT) queries on individuals they found suspicious to ensure their identities.

During a check in front of Şişli Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, the teams conducted body searches and GBT queries on vehicles and individuals they suspected. In Kadıköy, teams waiting in front of Ahmet Sani Gezici Girls’ Anatolian Imam Hatip High School stopped vehicles for inspection.

Police officers checked the driver’s licenses and identities, and also conducted GBT checks on pedestrians passing by the school entrances. At the inspection in front of Tevfikbey Middle School on Tonguç Baba Avenue in Esenyurt Turgut Özal neighborhood, teams stopped suspicious vehicles for searches and checked the identities of individuals suspected.

These inspections aim to ensure the safety and security of students and teachers, as well as prevent any potential risks or threats in and around school premises. The police teams will continue their efforts to maintain order and protect educational institutions throughout the academic year. Parents and educators are urged to cooperate with law enforcement authorities to maintain a safe learning environment.
