Swiss start-up Verity has developed a unique solution for businesses to keep track of their inventory, components, and physical assets using autonomous drones. This technology eliminates the need for manual inventory checks, which are inefficient and prone to errors. Verity’s drones survey warehouses and factories, collecting data on stock levels and locations, which is then fed back to the company’s inventory management systems. After successful adoption by over 100 companies in 13 countries, Swiss sportswear brand On has announced a partnership with Verity to implement this innovative technology in its warehouses.

Verity’s technology was developed by co-founder and CEO Raffaello D’Andrea in 2014 as a spin-out project from ETH Zurich. The company’s platform aims to provide clients with real-time data on their inventory, offering an invaluable advantage in supply chain management. With the ability to analyze data and prioritize which areas of a warehouse to check, the autonomous system operates independently once installed. On plans to leverage this technology to drive operational improvements, increase efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.

On’s co-founder, Caspar Coppetti, expressed excitement about partnering with Verity to transform their supply chain operations. By leveraging innovative technological solutions, On hopes to improve efficiency, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. The benefits of using Verity’s technology include improved product availability, order fulfillment rates, and reduced operational issues. Warehouse staff no longer need to spend hours manually checking inventory, leading to increased productivity and reduced carbon emissions.

Verity’s system autonomously manages inventory checks using drones, sending instructions based on analyzed data to prioritize areas for inspection. The drones operate primarily at night but can also fly during the day when necessary. This implementation has led to productivity gains for clients, with operational issue rates reduced from 5-12% to below 1%. Warehouse operations become cleaner and more efficient, resulting in an average reduction of 1,000 tons of carbon emissions per warehouse each year.

While the technology has been successful with clients worldwide, the challenge lies in convincing potential clients that the system is effective and not just science fiction. D’Andrea acknowledges the need to move past this reluctance and believes that partnerships with high-profile brands like On will help showcase the benefits of Verity’s technology. By automating inventory management processes, Verity’s innovative solution offers significant advantages for businesses looking to enhance operational efficiency and improve supply chain management. The partnership between Verity and On represents another step towards transforming traditional inventory practices with cutting-edge technology.
