Holly Madison and Crystal Hefner, who both dated Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, have recently released memoirs about their time in the Playboy Mansion. Madison, who wrote Down the Rabbit Hole in 2015, pointed out that the similarities between their stories go beyond just the subject matter. She noticed similarities in their writing styles, including the use of “fairy tale references” and “psychological catchphrases”. Madison was surprised by the similarities and was particularly unsettled by the fact that Crystal had a ghostwriter for her book, yet their narratives sounded so alike.

Madison expressed her discomfort with the similarities between her and Crystal’s memoirs, especially since they had the same publishing team. She felt that the publishing team should have noticed the similarities and addressed them before the book was released. Madison also mentioned that Kendra Wilkinson, another Girls Next Door alum, had written a memoir about her time in the Playboy Mansion. She explained that despite living in the mansion at the same time, each woman had a unique voice in their memoirs, unlike the similarities between her and Crystal’s writing styles.

Although Madison was taken aback by the similarities between her and Crystal’s memoirs, she was pleased that Crystal was able to share her own experiences and validate some of Madison’s memories. Madison acknowledged the difficulty of being the first to share her story, especially considering the backlash she faced when her book was released. She mentioned that it is now easier for others to come forward and share their stories, thanks in part to movements like Me Too. Despite any past conflicts or differences, Madison expressed that she and Crystal have since connected and put any animosity behind them.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Madison confirmed that Crystal’s account of a rivalry between the two women during the filming of Girls Next Door was “absolutely true”. She acknowledged that certain things were likely prompted by the show to create drama between the women, but Madison holds no grudge against Crystal for anything that may have been said. She mentioned that the two have reconciled and moved past any issues to support each other in their respective endeavors. Overall, Madison seems to have accepted the similarities in their stories and is glad that Crystal was able to tell her side of the story, despite any initial discomfort.
