A dispute over rent increase between the Kanık family and their landlord Ramazan Y. has escalated in Düdenbaşı Mahallesi. Kanık family, who have been residing in the house owned by Ramazan Y. for 5 years, refused to accept a 25 percent rent hike, leading the landlord to demand the eviction of the tenants. The situation worsened with the Kanık family accusing the landlord of constantly harassing them and attempting to forcefully enter their home by breaking the door glass, prompting them to file a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office. In response, the landlord initiated an execution proceeding claiming that he had not received payment from the tenants for 5 years.

The court ruled in favor of the landlord, ordering the eviction of the Kanık family from the property and requiring them to pay a rent amount of 60,000 TL along with legal interest, as the Kanık family failed to prove that they paid the rent in cash. Fatoş Kanık stated that when they started living in the house in Düdenbaşı Mahallesi, they had an agreement with the landlord to pay the rent in cash. However, the disagreement over the rent increase last year led to a confrontation with the landlord and their subsequent eviction.

Fatoş Kanık further explained that the landlord accused them of residing in the property without paying rent for 5 years, leading to an execution of their assets and a demand to repay the previously paid rent. Currently, they are facing a challenging situation as they are being asked to repay the money they had paid in cash. The Kanık family advises tenants to make payments to landlords through a bank account to avoid similar disputes.

Uğur Kanık, the husband of Fatoş Kanık, claimed that they were attacked, with Fatoş sustaining a glass cut on her finger, adding that they are now being asked to repay the rent they had already paid, causing further distress. The family’s lawyer, Şafak Baysal, stated that they have filed a criminal complaint against the landlord and his family members for invading their home and causing issues due to dissatisfaction with the rent increase, leading to the initiation of a lawsuit.

Ramazan Y. countered by alleging that Uğur Kanık had assaulted his wife and caused damage to the property while vacating. He insisted that the court had ordered the repayment of the 5-year rent to him, despite Kanık’s denial of making cash payments. The feud between the landlord and the tenant was captured on a security camera, with footage showing individuals hitting the window of the tenant’s flat. Both parties are now engaged in legal battles to resolve the ongoing dispute over rent payments and damages.
