The Golden Bachelor couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist did not make it on their honeymoon to Italy as planned, as they announced their divorce after only three months of marriage. The couple had planned the trip for May, but it seems that the honeymoon was called off along with the marriage. During the Golden Bachelor wedding special on January 4, ABC gave the couple a trip to Italy as a gift. However, an Instagram post from Theresa later that month was the last mention of the vacation, indicating that the trip never happened.

Theresa, 70, expressed excitement about planning the honeymoon to Italy in a January 28 post on Instagram. She shared details about their planned trip, including flying into Rome, spending time in Tuscany, and heading to Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. This would have been Theresa’s third visit to Italy, as she had previously been when she was 18 and to visit her daughter who studied abroad there. Despite the anticipation and excitement, the couple’s marriage ended after only three months, leading to the cancellation of their honeymoon.

Gerry, 72, had proposed to Theresa during the Golden Bachelor season finale in November 2023, and they got married in a live TV special earlier in the year. However, after assessing their situation and discussing their living arrangements, they mutually decided to dissolve their marriage. Despite this decision, Gerry emphasized that both of them are dedicated to their families, with Gerry having two daughters from his late wife and Theresa having a son and daughter from her late husband. As a result of their commitment to their families, they believed it was best for their individual happiness to live apart.

Although Gerry and Theresa decided to get a divorce, they both expressed that there is still love between them. Gerry mentioned in a Good Morning America appearance that he still loves Theresa and roots for her every day. Despite the end of their marriage, they maintain a positive and supportive relationship, based on their shared love and respect for each other. The breakup of their marriage did not diminish the affection and care they have for each other, highlighting the importance of their families and their mutual decision to prioritize their own happiness and well-being.
