Delta Air Lines has announced plans to give its cabin interiors a major upgrade, featuring new seating materials, enhanced lighting, a renewed color palette, and new decorative motifs and branding. The first plane with the overhaul will be a 27-year-old Boeing 757 aircraft, set to debut in the fall on domestic and short-haul international routes, just in time for Delta’s centennial anniversary. A widebody Airbus A350 will also receive the upgrade in early 2025.

The overhaul focuses on aesthetics and finishings, meaning seats, carpets, floorings, aircraft bulkheads, and lavatory interiors will be updated, while the physical seats and cabin layout will remain the same. The changes aim to provide a more comfortable and visually appealing experience for passengers. Memory-foam cushions on widebody jets, breathable materials, and lighting enhancements are some of the noticeable modifications being made.

Delta is not changing the number of seats or configurations on the airplanes but is focusing on the trim and finish of the cabins. Delta Premium Select and First Class seats will offer memory foam cushions with breathable leather, while Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin seats will have upgraded colors, stitching, and memory foam cushions.

Delta’s cabin lighting will also receive an upgrade, with warmer interior lighting designed to help passengers adjust to different time zones. Mood lighting for each phase of the flight, from boarding to meal times to sleep and wake-up times, will be implemented. The airline conducted “selfie tests” to ensure influencers and social media users have optimal lighting for onboard posts. The overall design and branding will feature a modern color palette, natural materials, branded identifiers on widebody aircraft, and refreshed bathrooms with bright walls and accent patterns.
