32-year-old therapist, Freter, who lives in Germany, recently visited Diyarbakir for a tourist trip. During his visit to the historic Ulu Mosque in the Sur district, Freter was impressed by the structure of the mosque and the worship of the Muslims. The mosque guide, Yaser Aydin, shared with Freter the beauties of the Islamic religion and the history of the mosque and the city.
After being inspired by his visit to the Ulu Mosque, Freter decided to convert to Islam. A ceremony called ‘Ihtida Merasimi’ was organized for him at the Sur District Mufti’s Office. During the ceremony, which began with the recitation of the Quran, the Sur District Mufti, Ilhan Gunay, provided Freter with information about the basic principles of the Islamic faith.
By reciting the Shahada, Freter officially became a Muslim and took on the name ‘Altair’. Sur District Mufti Gunay congratulated Altair and presented him with an ‘Ihtida Belgesi’ (certificate of conversion) along with a gift of the Quran.
Freter expressed his joy and gratitude for the warm welcome and support he received during his conversion to Islam. He also thanked the Sur District Mufti and the mosque guide for their guidance and information about the Islamic faith.
