Edirne Security Directorate Counterterrorism Branch teams have completed the procedures of F.K, a suspected member of the FETÖ, who was caught two days ago while trying to escape to Greece.

F.K, who was referred to the Edirne Courthouse, was arrested by the duty judge of the peace criminal court after giving his statement to the prosecutor.

The suspect, who is a chief inspector at the Turkish Court of Accounts, was attempting to flee the country when he was apprehended by the authorities.

FETÖ, which stands for the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization, is a controversial group accused of orchestrating the failed coup attempt in Turkey in 2016.

The Turkish government has been cracking down on FETÖ supporters and members since the attempted coup, which resulted in a state of emergency being declared and thousands of arrests.

F.K’s arrest is seen as another step in the government’s efforts to root out and bring to justice those involved in the coup attempt and associated with the FETÖ organization.
