Fishermen who set out to sea during the night had to return to port after collecting their nets following a storm and heavy rain.

Ibrahim Pehlivanoğlu, the President of the Süleymanpaşa Fishermen’s Cooperative, stated that the fishermen were negatively affected by the storm and rain.

Pehlivanoğlu mentioned that the fishermen had cast their nets into the Sea of Marmara last night to try their luck, but had to return back due to the strong winds and heavy rain. He expressed hope that they would be able to set out to sea again this evening.

Pehlivanoğlu also mentioned that this year, the fishermen were hopeful for a good catch of bonito, bluefish, and anchovies, and that once the rain stops, the fishermen will set sail again.

Fisherman Hasan Erol noted that the fish markets were empty on the first day, but expressed optimism that they would be filled with fresh catches once the weather clears up.

Erol added that the fishermen would resume their search for a good catch as soon as the weather improves, and expected that the fish markets would quickly become lively again.
