A fire broke out for unknown reasons in a recycling warehouse located in the Başiskele Small Industrial Site. The rapidly rising flames spread to 4 adjacent businesses. Upon receiving reports from bystanders, a large number of fire and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

The fire, with the intervention of 21 vehicles and 71 firefighters, was brought under control after 1 hour of work. During the fire, the lifeless body of one person, whose identity has not yet been determined, was found in the recycling warehouse. The body was taken to the morgue of Kocaeli State Hospital for autopsy.
