A Florida man named Forrest Pemberton has been arrested for planning an attack on a major U.S.-based pro-Israel organization, according to FBI agents. Pemberton allegedly intended to travel to the south Florida offices of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) to “scout” the area and return later with concealed firearms to kill, injure, harass, and intimidate people associated with the organization. Though charging documents do not specifically name AIPAC as the target, an FBI affidavit confirms the victim is an organization with the same mission as AIPAC with a listed address in Plantation, Florida. Pemberton was tracked to a hotel near the AIPAC address and later surveilled in Tallahassee, Florida.
Prosecutors allege that Pemberton was carrying three firearms, including an AR-style rifle, and ammunition in a rideshare vehicle when he was stopped by law enforcement officers.
