Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is currently embroiled in a legal battle with apparel company Fanatics, who filed a lawsuit against him in New York Supreme Court. The lawsuit alleges that Harrison breached a contract that the two parties agreed to last May. Fanatics claims that despite paying Harrison twice, he has refused to fulfill his obligations and has publicly asserted that the contract does not exist. The specifics of the deal have not been disclosed, but it is reportedly worth at least $1 million and includes autographs, trading cards, game-worn apparel, and more.

According to Fanatics, Harrison has rejected or ignored every request from the company while failing to fulfill his contractual obligations. The lawsuit also alleges that Harrison claimed to have received offers from a large competitor and other trading card companies, demanding that Fanatics match or exceed these offers. However, Fanatics states that Harrison did not provide proof of these offers and began negotiating with other collectible or sports trading card companies. Harrison signed the contract with Fanatics in 2023 and was represented by his father, Hall of Fame wide receiver Marvin Harrison Sr., as he does not have an agent. The contract was set to expire just before the NFL Draft last month, and Harrison has not yet signed the NFL Players Association’s group licensing agreement.

Fanatics is seeking a jury trial in the lawsuit and is requesting “millions of dollars” in damages from Harrison. The company alleges that Harrison’s actions have caused harm to their business and reputation. Despite the legal dispute, Harrison was selected by the Cardinals with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft last month. He was highly regarded as the top receiver in the draft after an impressive college career at Ohio State, where he consistently put up big numbers in terms of receiving yards and touchdowns. Moving forward, the legal battle between Harrison and Fanatics could have implications for his rookie season with the Cardinals and his future in the NFL. It remains to be seen how the situation will be resolved and what impact it will have on Harrison’s career.
