The family of late NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins is suing his widow for “constant harassment” following his tragic death in April 2022. The lawsuit alleges that Haskins’ widow, Kalabrya Haskins, has been harassing his family whenever they try to reference his name, image, and likeness in public forums such as social media. The suit claims that Kalabrya has tried to have Haskins’ parents’ Instagram accounts disabled and challenged the establishment of the Haskins Family Foundation Inc. Additionally, she allegedly attempted to take a painting of the quarterback that belonged to Haskins’ parents at a memorial in Maryland. Kalabrya has also been accused of refusing to provide an accurate accounting of Haskins’ assets and estate, as well as not sharing his ashes with his family.

A partial settlement was reached last year between the estate of the late NFL quarterback and the driver of the truck that killed him, as well as its owner and broker. Haskins’ family filed a lawsuit alleging that the driver of the truck was speeding, driving carelessly, and had a cargo load exceeding the legal weight limit. Haskins died just weeks before his 25th birthday and had a blood alcohol level of .20% at the time of his death, according to the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office. The report also revealed traces of ketamine and norketamine in his system, painkillers prescribed by a doctor that can be used recreationally. Haskins’ lawyers claim he was “targeted and drugged” as part of a “blackmail and robbery conspiracy,” but no criminal charges have been filed related to these allegations.

Despite the legal battle between Haskins’ widow and his family, the late quarterback’s legacy remains strong. He starred at Ohio State, setting several school passing records and being named the MVP in both the Big Ten championship game and in the Buckeyes’ Rose Bowl win over the Washington Huskies in 2018. Haskins was a first-round NFL draft pick in 2019 by Washington but was released by the team after going 3-10 over two seasons. He signed with Pittsburgh for the 2021 season as a backup quarterback but did not appear in any games. The details of his death and the circumstances surrounding it remain under scrutiny, but his accomplishments on the field continue to be remembered and celebrated by his fans and the football community.

The allegations of harassment and disputes over Haskins’ assets and estate between his widow and family have further complicated the tragic situation surrounding his death. The legal battles and personal conflicts add another layer of grief and distress to an already heartbreaking loss for Haskins’ loved ones. Despite the challenges they face in seeking justice and closure, the memory of Haskins’ football achievements and the impact he had on those who knew him continue to be a source of comfort and pride for his family and fans. As the legal proceedings continue and the story unfolds, the legacy of Dwayne Haskins as a talented athlete and beloved family member endures, even in the face of adversity and conflict that has followed his untimely passing.
