President-elect Donald J. Trump has announced that his inaugural committee will be led by former U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler of Georgia. The committee, which will plan inaugural events, will be co-chaired by Loeffler and Steve Witkoff, a New York real estate investor. Trump expressed gratitude for the support of hardworking Americans during the election, and promised that the Trump Vance Inaugural Committee will celebrate their victory and work towards achieving a successful future for the country.

Loeffler’s appointment to lead the inaugural committee comes after Trump won the Peach State against Vice President Harris by a surprising margin, picking up 16 electoral votes. Loeffler, who served as a senator in 2020 before losing a special election to Democrat Raphael Warnock in 2021, has been a vocal ally of the former president. Despite facing accusations of insider trading in 2020, the Department of Justice later dropped its investigation. Loeffler has continued to be involved in conservative politics, calling out individuals like Mark Cuban and launching ad campaigns against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

In response to Mark Cuban’s comments about Trump not surrounding himself with strong women, Loeffler defended her support for the former president and conservative values. She has also been critical of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, accusing her of focusing on personal ambitions and partisan lawfare rather than keeping the community safe. Loeffler’s Greater Georgia 501(c)(4) group launched a six-figure ad campaign highlighting the failures of Willis’ leadership in the district attorney’s office.

The Trump campaign and Loeffler have not yet provided any additional comments on the announcement of Loeffler’s role in the inaugural committee. The committee will be responsible for planning and organizing events to kick off Trump’s administration and celebrate the victory of the American people who supported his America First agenda. Following the celebration, the focus will shift towards delivering on campaign promises to Make America Great Again and restoring strength, success, and common sense to the Oval Office. Trump expressed excitement for the opportunity to work towards a brighter future for the nation.
