Former NFL player Gosder Cherilus was arrested for allegedly urinating on a fellow passenger on a Delta flight from Boston to Dublin, Ireland. The flight was rerouted back to Boston, where Cherilus was taken into custody. Cherilus reportedly became irate and uncooperative when confronted by officers on the plane. Passengers were rebooked on a new flight to Dublin the next day.

Cherilus was arraigned at East Boston District Court and released on $2,500 bail. He was ordered to stay alcohol and drug-free, stay away from the alleged victim, and stay away from Logan Airport except for legitimate travel. Cherilus is due back in court in October for pretrial. The Gosder Cherilus Foundation has not commented on the incident.

Cherilus was a first-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2008 NFL Draft and played for several teams before retiring in 2017. Prior to his NFL career, he was a standout player at Boston College. Recently, Cherilus partnered with former teammates Calvin Johnson and Rob Sims to open a cannabis dispensary in downtown Boston called Primitiv Boston. The store opened in July 2023 and focuses on the advancement of cannabis as a form of wellness.

Cherilus’ NFL career was characterized by his time with the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After being released by the Colts in 2015, he signed a two-year deal with the Buccaneers before retiring in 2017. Cherilus is known for his time as a starting lineman at Boston College, where he started in a school-record 51 straight games. His recent venture into the cannabis industry with Primitiv Boston shows his continued involvement in business and wellness pursuits.

The incident on the Delta flight has not been further elaborated on by Cherilus or his foundation. The disruptive behavior on the plane resulted in Cherilus being arrested and having to go through a legal process. The details surrounding the alleged urination incident have not been disclosed. Cherilus’ actions on the flight led to delays for the other passengers and an unexpected return to Boston. The situation was handled by law enforcement and airline personnel.

Cherilus’ arrest for unruly behavior on the Delta flight has brought negative attention to the former NFL player. Despite his successful career in football, this incident has overshadowed his accomplishments on the field. Cherilus has not publicly addressed the incident or provided any further details surrounding the situation. The legal process following his arrest will continue, with Cherilus having to appear in court for pretrial in October.
