Former Sumar deputy Íñigo Errejón has stated that actress Elisa Mouliaá’s accusation is “false” and has asked the judge investigating him for sexual assault to reopen the case and allow him to testify to “expose the reality of the events”, avoiding the “procedural limbo” that the case has been stuck in after being interrupted due to the lawyer’s pregnancy. In a document collected by Europa Press, Errejón addresses the Court Number 47 of Madrid and alternatively to the Provincial Court of Madrid criticizing what he considers a “deliberate and artful delay to prolong and delay the handling of the current procedure, with evident bad faith and abuse of rights” by Mouliaá’s lawyer.

It was this Monday when Judge Adolfo Carretero decided to temporarily archive the case until the lawyer returned from her medical leave. The judge explained in his resolution that Mouliaá “has refused to appoint another lawyer to represent her” so “the inevitable consequence is the impossibility of continuing the procedure”. Errejón’s lawyer urges the judge to reopen the case so that he can testify “as soon as possible” and that the actress be required to designate a new lawyer within “a maximum period of 24 hours who can immediately take charge of her legal representation”.

In this context, Errejón’s defense reminds that this case is not “a civil procedure” but a “criminal, exceptionally high-profile” one in which serious misconduct is alleged, and every day that goes by he cannot “give the explanations due to the investigating body, to the public detriment of his honor and right to the presumption of innocence”. The defense emphasizes that Errejón’s “wish” was to testify in court last Tuesday, as initially planned, “in order to offer the corresponding explanations before the judicial body and expose the reality of the events, which differ greatly from those described by the other party”.

Mouliaá responded on Thursday to the defense’s appeal by stating that her allegation of a possible sexual assault is not “false” and that everything she has recounted “is what happened with all the details”. The actress expressed feeling “quite paralyzed” after Errejón’s appeal and the “media frenzy” that followed her accusation, which she made to “clarify what was happening and everything that occurred”. Mouliaá has defended that she has recounted what happened and how that night with the former deputy became “one of the most unpleasant” of her life. She mentioned having evidence and witnesses of the events. Despite feeling fear and being impacted by the recent events, she reiterated her trust in justice and her lawyer’s decisions.

The actress also mentioned the complexity of her lawyer’s situation, who is currently on medical leave, leading to the temporary closure of the case by the judge. She refuted the claims of falsehood and bad faith, stating that these accusations now come from Errejón’s side. The ongoing legal battle between Elisa Mouliaá and Íñigo Errejón continues to unfold in the public eye, raising questions about the handling of the case and the importance of respecting the rights of all parties involved. It remains to be seen how this situation will develop and what further actions will be taken by both parties in pursuit of justice and resolution.
