Elon Musk recently incorporated a mysterious entity called “United States of America Inc.” during his final push to help Donald Trump return to the White House. Details about the company were scarce initially, but it was connected to Musk’s family office through a shared mailing address in Austin, Texas. This entity was later revealed to be part of Musk’s political action committee, “America PAC,” which has spent millions of dollars campaigning for Trump and other Republican candidates since its launch in May.

Participants in Musk’s voter blitz began receiving checks issued by United States of America Inc. as part of America PAC’s voter giveaway. The giveaway promised participants $47 for each registered swing state voter they referred to sign the petition in support of free speech and the right to bear arms. The committee claimed to have distributed over 187,000 checks, totaling at least $8.7 million. Musk’s goal was to secure one million signatures, and some individuals reported receiving their payments by hand or through email notifications from America PAC.

Winners of the voter giveaway shared photos of their checks, which did not identify America PAC in any way. Some recipients expressed confusion over the origin of the checks, with one individual speculating that the $47 amount must indicate it came from a Trump PAC. United States of America Inc. has not yet appeared in the PAC’s Federal Election Commission filings, and Musk has not commented on the matter. Meanwhile, the PAC is facing legal challenges, with Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner suing over the legality of the cash prizes given to randomly selected petition signers.

Musk’s legal team has delayed a potential ruling on the lawsuit by filing to move the case into federal court, while the Justice Department’s Public Integrity Section has warned the PAC that its lottery may violate federal law. As the election approaches, Musk has shifted his focus to promoting his PAC’s “election integrity community” on X, where users can report alleged instances of voter fraud. However, reviews of posts to the community have revealed unsupported claims, attempts to dox individuals, and misinformation circulating on the platform.

Despite the controversy surrounding America PAC and United States of America Inc., Musk continues to advocate for Trump’s reelection and support Republican candidates through his political activities. The use of cash prizes to incentivize petition signers has sparked legal challenges and scrutiny, but Musk’s commitment to securing one million signatures remains undeterred. As the election draws near, Musk’s involvement in political campaigns and initiatives continues to generate interest and controversy.
