In Istanbul Küçükçekmece, two organized crime groups involved in drug trafficking have been dismantled. These groups were terrorizing the streets with armed conflicts and threats in order to expand their territory and maintain control. Following numerous tips, an investigation was launched by the Küçükçekmece Public Prosecutor’s Office. The Istanbul Narcotics Police then took action.

The Istanbul police had been monitoring street vendors for 4 months and tracking the leaders of the criminal organizations. When enough evidence was gathered, the teams conducted simultaneous raids on 40 different addresses. The police broke down doors and caught the suspects red-handed in their homes. Those arrested included the leaders of both groups, as well as those who carried out their orders. Illegal weapons, drugs, numerous promissory notes, and cash were seized in the operation.

A total of 32 suspects were taken into custody, facing charges of forming a criminal organization, attempted murder, drug trafficking, and violating the law numbered 6136. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fugitive suspects.
