A high-dollar fundraiser benefiting former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party has raised $43 million so far, with 100 attendees at the event in Palm Beach, Florida. Hosted by hedge fund founder John Paulson, the fundraiser includes wealthy GOP donors such as Robert Mercer, Rebekah Mercer, Harold Hamm, Robert Bigelow, and Steve Wynn. Special guests include former Trump rivals Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Doug Burgum, who have endorsed Trump. The fundraiser is collecting money for the Trump 47 Committee, which includes Trump’s campaign, the RNC, and state party committees, as well as a leadership PAC to cover Trump’s legal bills.

The price tag for the fundraiser ranges from $250,000 per person for the “host committee” to $814,600 per person for a “chairman” role. Those contributing at the top level will have dinner seating at Trump’s table. The fundraiser comes on the heels of the Trump campaign and the RNC announcing a combined $65.6 million raised in March, with $93.1 million in cash on hand. This represents an improved financial position for Trump and the RNC compared to the previous month but falls short of President Joe Biden and the Democrats, who reported cash-on-hand totals of more than $155 million at the end of February.

The event marks the first major fundraiser for Trump and the RNC since he became the presumptive presidential nominee. The fundraiser’s attendees include a mix of wealthy GOP donors, special guests, and top contributors who will receive perks such as dinner seating with Trump. The funds raised will benefit the Trump 47 Committee, which supports Trump’s campaign, the RNC, state party committees, and covers Trump’s personal legal expenses. The increased fundraising totals show progress for Trump and the RNC but highlight the significant gap they face compared to Biden and the Democrats in terms of fundraising.

The Palm Beach fundraiser is a notable event with high-profile guests and a significant amount of money raised so far. With contributors at different donation levels receiving various perks, the fundraiser is expected to continue raising money for the Trump 47 Committee. The support from wealthy GOP donors, Trump’s former rivals, and other special guests emphasizes the importance of fundraising for the Trump campaign and the Republican Party going forward. The financial position of Trump and the RNC has improved, but they still have work to do to catch up to Biden and the Democrats in terms of fundraising.
