Angelina Jolie has alleged that her ex-husband Brad Pitt’s physical abuse towards her started before the 2016 plane incident that led to her filing for divorce. The actress made these claims in court documents obtained by Page Six, with her legal team stating that Pitt’s history of physical abuse towards her began before the plane trip from France to Los Angeles and that abuse was also directed towards their children during this incident, prompting Jolie to leave Pitt.

In an attempt to prove that Brad Pitt refused to allow Angelina Jolie to sell her portion of their French winery, Chateau Miraval, unless she signed an NDA, Jolie’s legal team made claims about Pitt’s alleged abuse. The NDA Pitt reportedly proposed to Jolie would cover his personal misconduct, including his alleged abuse towards her, in an effort to prevent her from speaking out about it.

Jolie’s lawyers also claimed that Pitt wanted her to be contractually bound to silence after he discovered that she had submitted sealed documents to help settle their child custody dispute in 2021. Despite initially agreeing to purchase Jolie’s shares of the winery, Pitt allegedly backed out of the deal out of fear that the sealed documents could become public, prompting Jolie’s team to state that his refusal to buy her interest put the issue of his alleged abuse at the forefront.

While Jolie never pressed charges against Brad Pitt, her legal team claimed that she believed the best course of action was for Pitt to accept responsibility for his actions and help the family recover from the post-traumatic stress caused by his behavior. A representative for Pitt was not immediately available for comment, but a source familiar with the actor dismissed Jolie’s claims as attempts to distract from legal losses with irrelevant or inaccurate information.

According to court documents, Pitt had alleged that Jolie sold her shares of Chateau Miraval out of spite after he was granted joint custody of their children, though this decision was eventually overturned. The former power couple purchased the property in 2008 and have been embroiled in a custody dispute over their six children. The documents also revealed that Jolie presented a broader NDA agreement, while Pitt’s team offered a standard NDA intended to protect their business interests without limiting Jolie’s ability to speak about their divorce or custody proceedings.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children and have been engaged in a legal battle over their French winery and custody arrangements. The couple, who married in 2014, have been at odds over various issues, including allegations of abuse, NDA agreements, and their children’s well-being. Despite the ongoing legal battles, both parties have not publicly addressed the specific claims made in the court documents and continue to navigate their contentious divorce proceedings.
