Each week, Alexa curates a list of the buzziest fashion drops, hotel openings, restaurant debuts, and cultural events in New York City. This curated guide highlights the best things to see, shop, taste, and experience around the city. This week’s luxury list includes Toteme’s new NYC outpost, a performance by Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, and an auction of Madonna’s guitars.

Toteme, a Swedish-based label founded by Elin Kling and Karl Lindman, has opened its second NYC outpost on 69th and Madison. The new boutique, designed by Halleroed, features 1,600 square feet of space that blends the ornate with the austere. The store showcases the brand’s fall 2024 collection, as well as jewelry, shoes, and leather accessories. The store is strategically located to coincide with the brand’s debut on the NYFW schedule.

The Peninsula Hotel, a New York landmark since 1904, recently unveiled newly refreshed guest rooms, public spaces, and a rooftop lounge called the Pen Top. The Pen Top, located in a space previously known as Salon de Ning, offers generous indoor and outdoor spaces with stunning city views. The design of the rooftop lounge is inspired by an artist’s loft and was created by the late Bill Rooney of Bill Rooney Studio.
