AK Party officials have filed an objection to the election results, citing allegations of ballot burning and irregularities in voting.
After reviewing the objection, the Provincial Election Board has decided to hold a repeat election.
The District Election Board had initially rejected the AK Party’s objection, leading the issue to be escalated to the Provincial Election Board.
According to the unofficial results of the Local Administration General Elections held in Halfeti on March 31, DEM Party candidate Mehmet Karayılan received 39.45% of the votes, while AK Party candidate Şeref Albayrak received 33.64% of the votes.
