Cirque du Soleil’s long-running show, “The Beatles Love,” is set to close on July 7 after an 18-year run at the Mirage hotel in Las Vegas. The show, known for its energetic portrayal of the Fab Four’s history and music, has drawn over 11.5 million viewers during its time on the Las Vegas Strip. The closure is part of the Mirage’s major renovation plan to rebrand itself into the Hard Rock Las Vegas. The show has been a cultural icon, bringing band members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr back together for public appearances throughout its run.

Stéphane Lefebvre, CEO of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group, expressed gratitude for the creators, cast, and crew who brought “The Beatles Love” to life, stating that the show will live on long after its final performance. Joe Lupo, president of the Mirage, also thanked the performers and crew members who entertained guests for nearly two decades. The show premiered in 2006 with appearances by McCartney, Starr, Yoko Ono, and Olivia Harrison. The following year, they reunited to celebrate the show’s first anniversary, highlighting the special connection between the iconic band and the production.

The show was born out of the friendship between Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté and George Harrison, the Beatles’ lead guitarist who passed away in 2001. Set to a specialized soundtrack, the show won two Grammy Awards in 2008, a first for Cirque du Soleil. The soundtrack, produced and mixed by George Martin and his son, features 26 songs from the Beatles’ extensive catalog. The current cast includes 11 original members from the show’s inception, and over 11,000 costume pieces are worn on show nights, including shoes and wigs. Audiences have been showered with 13.5 tons of confetti during the final act, which closes with the Beatles’ hit song, “All You Need is Love.”

“Beatles Love” is one of six Cirque productions on the Las Vegas Strip, known for its unique blend of acrobatics, dance, and music. Tickets for the final shows in July will go on sale in the coming weeks, giving fans a final opportunity to experience this iconic show before it closes its doors. The legacy of “The Beatles Love” will endure beyond its time on stage, leaving a lasting impact on the Las Vegas entertainment scene and the hearts of fans who have enjoyed its magic over the years. As Cirque du Soleil bids farewell to this beloved show, they look forward to continuing to innovate and captivate audiences with their other productions in the entertainment capital of the world.
