Families sitting outside the HDP province building in order to rescue their children from the clutches of terrorism have reached their 1682nd day of the protest, which began on September 3, 2019.

Despite the changing seasons, pandemics, and the holy month of Ramadan, the families continue their vigil, hoping for good news from their children during the Ramadan holiday.

“We hope to bring our children home,” said Bedriye Uslu, who has been protesting for her son Mahmut.

Uslu expressed the sadness of spending every holiday without her son, saying, “Our holidays used to be joyful when our children were with us. Hopefully, one day we will bring our children home. I hope this holiday will bring hope, Mahmut will hear my voice and return. Son, if you see or hear me, come back, surrender to our state.”

Nihat Aydın, who is protesting for his son Mehmet, also expressed the sorrow of spending another holiday without his child.

Aydın hoped that this would be the last holiday he spends apart from his child, saying, “We are spending the holiday in a tent. When my child was at home, he used to kiss my hand and ask for something new for the holiday. It has been 9 years since I have heard from my child. Children, if you hear us, give us the gift of experiencing another holiday with you. Come back, surrender to your state, reunite with your mother and father.”
