The funerals of martyrs Üçgül and Özer were held in Adıyaman after their bodies were processed at the Adıyaman Education and Research Hospital morgue. The coffins of the martyrs, wrapped in the Turkish flag, were carried on the shoulders of their colleagues for a while before being placed on a catafalque.
Among those attending the ceremony were the families and relatives of the martyrs, as well as Deputy Minister of the Interior Münir Karaloğlu, Chief of Police Erol Ayyıldız, Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol, Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere, Chief Prosecutor Gökhan Şahin, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Mehmet Hakan Doğan, Chief of Police Cihat Dağdeviren, Chief of Police of Kahramanmaraş Nurettin Gökduman, Adıyaman Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Senior Colonel Hikmet Uz, and other officials and comrades.
Üçgül’s 17-year-old daughter İrem, in tears, embraced her father’s coffin and photo, saying, “I will be someone you’d be proud of, I promise you dad, I love you so much.” After a moment of silence, the martyrs’ biographies were read and a prayer was recited by the Provincial Mufti Mevlüt Haliloğlu. Üçgül’s body was sent to the Kadirli district of Osmaniye, while Özer’s body was sent to Istanbul to be buried.
Police officer S.U.Ş, who served at the Adıyaman Altınşehir Police Station, opened fire with his personal firearm on Police Station Chief Commissioner Kamuran Üçgül and Asayiş Branch Teams Officer Commissioner Gökhan Özer. The wounded police officers were unable to be saved despite medical intervention and were martyred, while the police officer who carried out the attack was neutralized while injured.
