Governor Fidan, who attended the Eid al-Adha celebration program in Nevşehir, made a statement regarding tourism data to reporters. Fidan stated that tourism activity in Cappadocia, known for its fairy chimneys, underground cities, and rock-carved historical sites, continues throughout the year, with approximately 50,000 people staying per day during the holiday season.
Fidan expressed his expectation that more than 5 million local and foreign tourists will be hosted in Cappadocia by the end of the year. He mentioned, “We are pleased to see that our facilities are almost 100% full due to the holiday season. Looking at the first three months of the year, our visitor count, which was 441,000 last year, has already reached 531,000 this year. Cappadocia is a region that deserves to be visited not only for its natural beauty but also for its history, architecture, gastronomy, and way of life. We invite those who have yet to see this place to our region. We can accommodate approximately 50,000 guests per day.”
According to the data from the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, in the first quarter of 2024, Göreme Open Air Museum hosted 154,846 visitors, Zelve Ruins hosted 149,025 visitors, and the Kaymaklı Underground City had 90,590 visitors, making them the most visited centers by tourists. Last year, during the same period, Cappadocia’s tourist centers were visited by 441,834 local and foreign tourists.
