Rick Becker, a Republican running for North Dakota’s lone seat in the House of Representatives, has received an endorsement from former 2024 Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy. Becker is running in a three-way Republican primary to advance to the November general election, with the current Rep. Kelly Armstrong vacating the seat to run for governor. Ramaswamy expressed concerns about the government giving taxpayer money to companies to build a CO2 pipeline, with Becker standing firmly against it and refusing to bow to the bipartisan Establishment who supports it. Becker has been endorsed by members of the House Freedom Caucus and has aligned himself with former President Trump and the populist wing of the GOP.

During his time as a state representative, Becker founded and led an ultra-conservative faction of the state House known as the Bastiat Caucus. Named after 19th-century French economist Frédéric Bastiat, the caucus frequently challenged the state’s Republican officials to push further right. Becker’s Republican opponents in the House primary include Julie Fedorchak, who has served on North Dakota’s Public Service Commission since 2013, and former State Department official Alex Balazs. The lone Democrat in the race is Marine Corps veteran Trygve Hammer. Becker previously ran for U.S. Senate against incumbent Sen. John Hoeven and Democratic candidate Katrina Christiansen.

Ramaswamy praised Becker for refusing to bow to the Establishment and for his commitment to defending the truth against the radical woke mob that seeks to undermine American values. Becker expressed appreciation for the endorsement and described Ramaswamy as an American patriot who shares his values. Ramaswamy, who dropped out of the primary early, has been actively campaigning for Trump, but the former president has not made an endorsement in the race. Becker has also garnered support from former Freedom Caucus Chairman Scott Perry and several members of the House Freedom Caucus, pledging to join the group if elected to Congress.

Becker’s campaign has focused on opposing the construction of a CO2 pipeline across the Midwest with taxpayer money, emphasizing the hazards involved and the violation of property rights through the use of eminent domain. He has positioned himself as a staunch conservative aligned with Trump and the populist wing of the GOP. The endorsement from Ramaswamy adds further momentum to Becker’s candidacy in the Republican primary for North Dakota’s House seat. With support from the House Freedom Caucus and a track record of challenging the Republican establishment in the state House, Becker is presenting himself as a conservative alternative to the other candidates in the race.

The Republican primary for North Dakota’s House seat features a diverse field of candidates, including Becker, Fedorchak, and Balazs on the Republican side, and Hammer as the lone Democrat. Becker’s strong stance against the CO2 pipeline and his alignment with Trump and the House Freedom Caucus have solidified his position as a conservative candidate in the race. The endorsement from Ramaswamy underscores Becker’s commitment to defending American values and opposing the radical woke agenda. As the primary election approaches, Becker’s campaign will continue to emphasize his conservative credentials and his determination to represent the interests of North Dakota in Congress.
