Bruce Springsteen announced additional tour dates were postponed due to vocal issues affecting his ability to perform. The iconic singer and the E Street Band released a statement on Instagram on May 26 revealing that their upcoming concerts in Prague and Milan would be postponed under doctor’s orders, with the tour set to resume on June 12 in Madrid. The decision to postpone came after Springsteen’s Marseille concert was also postponed the day before due to vocal issues, and further examination by doctors led to the recommendation that he should not perform for the next ten days. Rescheduled dates for the postponed shows have not been announced at this time, but the tour is expected to continue through November with dates across Europe, the United States, and Canada.

This isn’t the first time Springsteen has had to postpone concerts due to health issues. In 2023, he had to postpone several shows due to a peptic ulcer, which causes symptoms such as belching, bloating, nausea and vomiting. At that time, his medical advisors decided it was necessary for him to seek treatment for the condition, leading to the postponement of his remaining tour dates that year. Springsteen eventually announced in October that he would continue to receive treatment for the ulcer through the rest of the year, with plans to resume his tour in 2024. The singer has been candid about his struggles with his health, attributing his inability to sing during his stomach issues to diaphragm pain that made it impossible for him to perform.

In an interview with SiriusXM’s E Street Radio, Springsteen discussed the challenges he faced while dealing with his stomach problems and other painful issues. He expressed concerns about whether he would be able to sing again, as singing was something he loved doing the most. This revelation was surprising to bandmate Steven Van Zandt and others close to Springsteen, as they had not realized the extent of his illness. Springsteen has also been open about his struggles with depression, revealing that therapy has helped him manage his mental health. Additionally, he has emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and weight training, as essential components of his overall well-being and longevity in his career.

Springsteen’s health issues have had a significant impact on his ability to perform, leading to the postponement of multiple concert dates in recent years. Despite facing challenges with his vocal abilities and stomach problems, he remains committed to his music career and maintains a positive outlook on his recovery. With ongoing treatment and support from his medical team, he continues to prioritize his health and well-being as he navigates the demands of performing on stage. As fans eagerly await the rescheduled dates for the postponed concerts, Springsteen’s resilience and determination to overcome his health issues are a testament to his enduring passion for music and his dedication to his craft.
