Ishmael Francis, a 29-year-old man from the Bronx, was indicted on charges of raping a 13-year-old boy in a public housing building stairwell after meeting the victim online. The attack took place last month, and Francis was charged with two counts of second-degree rape and related offenses by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office. The incident occurred after Francis and the boy exchanged messages late at night, leading to Francis going to the Sotomayor Houses in Soundview where the victim lived and ambushing him in the stairwell.
The attack happened when the victim was throwing out the trash, and Francis allegedly sexually assaulted the boy before stealing his phone and fleeing the scene upon hearing the family calling out for the child. The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital for treatment, and Francis was arrested several days later on September 24 after being identified through online messages.
